Sunshine!

We have just had such a beautiful weekend. Hot and sunny – gave us a good chance to work on our fence. The kids were pretty happy and healthy, so much better than other recent weekends. Next week is our long weekend and then only a couple more weeks until my first week of vacation this summer!!!!

I can’t wait for vacation – I’m having a spa afternoon with my mom, sister and friend on Monday, then hopefully some time at a beach with the kids a couple of the other days. Should have all my new camera equipment by then and I can do lots of practicing at that.

Two weeks of work after my first vacation I have another week off – and we’re off to Fairmont to see mom’s new house – that is going to be so nice! 10 weeks after that is my all-girls spa getaway weekend. It feels like life is pretty good right now.

A Yucky Week

This has been a long and tiring week. Xander woke up on Saturday from his nap with a high fever and he’s been sick and cranky pretty much ever since. He finally improved enough to go to daycare on Wednesday, but even still he is not himself. He’s sleeping poorly which means mommy and daddy are not getting enough rest and I think we’re all getting cranky.

Work has been hectic and stressful but thankfully is mostly under control now.

It’s been raining, and raining, and raining – yuck!!!!! I’m not such a fan of rain, it makes the days feel gray and dreary. When you are overtired it adds up to make me feel kind of sad and down. Feeling sad makes me want to eat junky food and then I feel fatter and basically it’s a very negative cycle. I hope next week is more cheerful!

We did have one wonderfully bright spot this week – the Oilers won game 5 of their series against Carolina and we’re excitedly awaiting game 6 here at home on Saturday – GO OILERS GO!!!!! If they can win at home we’re tied 3-3 with the determining game 7 on Monday. We could bring the cup home baby!!

Loyal to the Oil!!!

Ok, the Oilers have had a rough couple of games in the Stanley Cup final, but I’m a loyal fan and I still think they can pull it off! Go Oilers Go!!!

So life has been pretty busy. We’re busily building our fence at home, and making some landscaping plans. We went out last weekend with our friends which was nice, despite the lovely husband who came very late due to working on the fence. The kids got to spend some time with Nana and Auntie Karla and the gang. We spent last Sunday at my sister’s new place (renting an acreage north of the City) and it was so nice. It was sunny and warm and the kids had so much room to run around. Almost made me wish we had an acreage!

We heard this week from the Australia company Darin interviewed with before, asking if we were still interested. We said yes but haven’t heard back from them yet. I don’t think we actually would take it, although I still think it would be an amazing opportunity. It would be pretty stressful dealing with getting caretaking for the dogs and renting out the house and everything. Oh well, someday I’ll go to Australia hopefully!

We’re still on hold with the babymaking, I even had an interview with an employment agency this week to discuss maybe finding a new position somewhere. It’s a hard choice, because there are a lot of pluses to working for govt, but there are certainly plenty of negatives too. I guess I still have lots of time to think about it.
